The minister stated that the ministry is “looking into” Chinese vehicles within its vehicle pools, but noted that safety is a issue in all contemporary cars.

Our department has a collection of thousands of cars in the Ministry of Defence and those vehicles represent a tiny fraction.
However regardless of if you’re traveling in a vehicle from China or a non-Chinese car, what we’ve asked our people is not to plug Ministry of Defence technology into their vehicle, not to have conversations at a classified level in any kind of car, because of the increasing threats of surveillance that exist in all automobile, to only have those confidential talks in secure locations. This is a prudent and sensible thing for everyone worried about safety.

When it was suggested that it would be prudent for the MoD to stop using every cars from China, Pollard replied: That is exactly what we are looking into at the present time.”

The revelation comes as claims from Scandinavian countries have alerted the UK to the existence of multi-purpose kill switches in Chinese electric buses, which could enable the Chinese government to switch off buses and bring chaos to transport systems.

Additionally, a Russia spy ship has been shining laser beams at RAF pilots, labeled a “extremely risky” action by government representatives.
